Free Moon Cuttable and Scrapbooking That is Just Dreamy

Welcome to The Cherry On Top.

Hybrid Hipsters and Digi Divas can totally jump in to this weekend's blog entries.  I showed off two new packs of templates in yesterday's blog and I've got another page with one of those packs, today.  I've also got a hybrid page from Audry with our free cuttable from last week that coordinates with our Sleep Tight Collection.

I mentioned in a previous blog how limiting it can be when we can't think out of the theme.  Sometimes we just have to take another angle on a kit or template to get more use out of our stash.  Although my new templates have a reading theme, they can be used for all kinds of other subjects.

My page below, could really use any kind of pictures and the journaling can be the story behind those pictures.  This would actually be a pretty nifty prompt idea as well.  This book could represent a journal, photo album, diary...whatever you want it to represent.

As I was designing this page, I got to thinking that I wanted the page to resemble a boy's bedroom.  I know that Tracey's collections use the same kind of element format which makes it perfect for mixing and matching.  Her use of fun, bright colors makes the process even easier still.

I searched my CMG stash for all kinds of fun stuff, you might find in a young boy's bedroom and it was so easy.  More than I could ever use on one page and not only the elements themselves, but the colors blended with each other as well.  I'm typically really bad at mixing and matching kits, but with Clever Monkey Graphics collections it's not difficult at all.

Some more tips about this page.  I used an outline on my outline so that my titles would show up better.  I just took the color picker and hovered over a color from my page until I found just the right one. Tip:  I chose colors directly from the page so it's more cohesive and I chose colors that provide contrast from the background.

To see more pages using these really fun templates, skip back to yesterday's blog.  I've also posted a free quick page there.

Here's a peek at Tracey's kit.  The characters are just precious.  If you click on the image you can get to Tracey's shop and check her other awesome products.  Here is link to Tracey's group if you want to join us, there.

Book Lover

Last week I offered a free cuttable that coordinates with our Sleep Tight Collection and Creative Team Member, Audry jumped right on it.  It's  a total plus having a team member who likes getting a little glue on their fingers.

Here are a couple of close ups and Audry's page.

Hybrid scrapbooking really is a fantastic way to be creative.  I dabble with everything because not all projects are created equally.  Some we might want to put a lot of time and hand work in to.  While others do not require as much time or materials.  When you can dabble with all of the different formats of scrap, you can go a lot further.

Feel free to show off any of your scrap-a-licious work in our group.  We get in to scrap chat, share our pages, share amazing deals we find around and freebies are often a part of the repertoire as well.   We'd love to see ya there.

Thanks so much for checking out The Cherry.

Scrapbooking About Reading, Gorgeous Page Inspiration and New Freebies

Welcome to The Cherry On Top.

I've got two blogs planned this week.  So if you are into hybrids, come on back tomorrow.  I'll be taking you through another page with the new templates and a super talented designer, Clever Monkey Graphics.  A creative team member of mine, has used our free cuttable from the Sleep Tight Collection that I'll also be showing off.

Today, in the usual manner, I've got 2 new packs of templates.  One contains TWELVE templates and there is yet another 50% off sale at GingerScraps to take advantage of.  Whoo hoo!  I've also got a new video in the form of a process video and all kinds of ideas on how to use our new, Page Title templates that coordinate with the YearBook Collection.

Let's dive into all of this wonderful scrappy goodness!

I am an avid reader to say the least.  A total book junky!  I can hardly think of a better day than perusing the used book store.  I'm at such a huge disadvantage living in a foreign country for that matter.  I did manage to find one shop in Oostende (on the beach) that has a large thrift store with a decent used book collection with an English section.  I have to order everything on line and of course it's all new, so I have to pay that pretty price.  Ugh!

The first template is totally me!  My signature up doo, though much neater than mine and the glasses.  I was playing with JoCee Designs' pretty kit, A Good Read when I got the inspiration to design templates and I totally stole her color palette.  It's sophisticated and calming with a nifty splash of blue that keeps it all interesting.

Take a look at how my team used these templates and remember what I said, last week.  You don't have to take your templates and kits literally.  These templates would be fine to scrap a variety of themes you want to scrap.

Sweet Shoppe Goodies
Antebellum Press Products

JoCee Designs, A Good Read

Jenn's page, above uses Jo's kit I told you about.  I love the cozy feel of it.

Goodies from the Gingerbread Ladies at GingerScraps

Designs from Janet Scott

Felicity's page goes a bit outside of the theme.

Magical Scraps Galore

I've read all of the Potter books and watched the movies, too.  Yes!  I ho have Potter templates on tap for this fall so if you're a fan.  Stay tuned and keep this kit in mind as well.

Designs from Jessica Dunn

D's Designs

Goodies From LouCee

Retired Designs from Sus

Just Because Studio

A sleepy time kit works perfect with this.  Don't forget our Sleep Tight Collection.  I left it up for just $5.

Also new in the shop today, YearBook Title Pages.  This collection is becoming enormous.  I've given away dozens and dozens of papers, elements and a few coordinating freebies throughout many of our social spots.  If you've not gotten started with our Progressive Scrap, it is not too late.  Join us in the group, download the first Winter Pack, upload your three pages to the correct album, tag me and I'll send ya the Spring Packs...I'm really pleased with all of the participation we have so far and all of the lovely pages.  We'd love to have you join us, too.

I got some extra help since I had so many templates needing examples.  A huge shout to the ladies who helped me.  Here are a few of their pages and some from me as well as a process video with some various ways to change up these templates.

Though they are title pages, you can go nuts with them.  The idea was to keep it simple so you can get your albums together faster, but use them as you like with any kit or collection you like.  If you're like me and like an album that is totally coordinating, then use all of the parts of the YearBook Collection together and have an amazingly cohesive album.

Here are a few of my pages.  I've done totally different levels of design on all three.  I'll walk ya through it and highly recommend the video for a lot more cool tips.

For the first one I went all out on bottom cluster.  Dedicating a fair amount of time to the overall design.  Of course the large photo helps a lot, too.  I kept the title simple because I found my page a bit busy already.  I kept the colors fairly contained, but I did use more than I normal would.

I have to giggle at myself.  This page took about 5 minutes to design and yet I still really love it.  Then I have to ask myself why I found it so appealing.  For one, I kept color usage to minimum and the photo is also limited in color.  I love all of the texture in the papers giving the page a bit of luxurious appeal.  It also feels nicely balanced

This is page where the process video features.  Jump to our You Tube, maybe even subscribe and check out our videos.  I only recently looked to see what kind of views I was getting on what videos to see what people are wanting and I was so surprised that process videos were so popular.  I'm not a fan to watching themself, but I was thrilled to see theses were popular.  You can bet there will be a lot more of them.

Just look at how the ladies used the collection with the title pages.  Jillian managed to scrap all 12 templates in under an hour!

Don't forget the sale at GingerScraps this week!

Here is today's freebie.  This blog is full of free stuff.  Scroll on back and see what you can find.

Fourth of July Scrapbooking, Layout Love and New Freebies

Welcome to The Cherry On Top.

I hope you're having a wonderful day so far.  The sun is shining, my kids are chilling with me, the dog has finally stopped barking for the moment and everything is just so wonderful.  Enjoy the little things, today.

Our new templates are super fun and I got to team up with a designer friend of mine, LouCee Creations for this week's Fourth templates.  Take a look at what we came up with.  Ooh and aah...over our team's pages and get an eyeful of fabulous freebies from us and others around DigiLand.

I got a message from Lou asking if I had fun fourth templates for her.  I did not and that had to change.  I told her to shoot me an image of her kit so I can have the templates coordinate with it.  I was most impressed and just loved the sassy, witty twist.  Neither one of us currently lives in the States, but we certainly understand the magnetism of American patriotism.  We also thought we'd put a spin on our goodies for those not affiliated with the fourth.  Hence, the feline touch!

Lou's Adorable kit is also at GingerScraps.

AmeriCat

You know, I'm always trying to amp up my skills by trying new stuff all of the time.  I saw an image of a heart like this in Lou's kit and went with it.  I really liked Lou's colors and the soft, warm tones she's used.

AmeriCat
Jenni always rocks her pages and Gaye from GS Creations is so awesome when it comes to sharing her designs in my templates.  Isn't it so fun when you customize shapes like these?!  I really, really love doing that.  Turn our templates into yours.

AmeriCat

Many of my team members are not from The States and yet they could still find creative ways to use the products and have a lot of fun doing so!  Many countries have red, white and blue as their colors and there are a lot of elements that have nothing to do with the 4th of July.

Magical Scraps Galore

I just responded to a friend in my group on this very subject, theme.  If you look at a kit at face value, you're going to totally limit yourself!  Tip:  Look past themes.  Observe all of the details.  Check out elements are on their own.  Look more objectively at the papers, too.  Often papers are not themed at all.  We'll dive deeper so you can get more out of templates and kits by keeping an open mind.

Just So Scrappy

We'll take a look at the above template.  Tip:  Delete the stars and stripes and you've got a beautiful heart as your base to scrap over or up.  Delete the stars in the background OR use them for a sleepy or night time page.  Three totally different uses for this one template.

Kastagnette

This template can be looked at as a summer page.  Tip:  Maybe scrap pictures that you took in July and ditch the 4th?  Of course, you could delete both titles and use however you like with any theme or pictures at all.

Maybe you've always dreamed of going to America?  That would make an absolutely awesome page!  You cold also scrap a trip you took there.

Ooh La La

Peeps!  Let me tell you.  The Buffet at GingerScraps is absolutely insane this month.  My jaw dropped several times looking at what the ladies have designed.  I find it very interesting to see what everyone does with the same colors.  Sometimes I am not thrilled at all with a palette and then Aimee Harrison will design the most gorgeous goodies with that palette.  Hehehe...Go check out what Neia, Aimee's, Ooh La La's is way awesome as is Shepherd Studio's, Cherry Bomb.  Ha!  It looks totally rock'n!

This is definitely going to be a pack of templates that I'll go back to again.  Not only are they totally versatile, but you can easily switch them up for a completely different look.  Whoo hoo!  I love that!  Check out what my amazingly talented team have done with them and remember, only $2.  Everything in the Buffet is Cherry priced.  So treat yourself this weekend and get scrappy.  You deserve it!

Have you been following the next Designer Contest at The Studio?  I sure have and a few of my friends are in it and the competition is getting tense.  You might recognize the work of Cindy Cinderella.  She's a valued CT and friend of mine.  Her contribution is Secretly A Mermaid.  I just had to grab her collection and play.  Go vote for your favorite through your purchase.  It is not easy choosing and no worries, they are also Cherry priced.

Here's another 4th related page I designed last week using Bits N' Pieces, Sparkle and Shine kit.  No fourth needed.  Just some good old red, white and blue, colors, use of the basic elements and no theme necessary.  These are my Ship Shape templates.  Looked and it was still on sale!
