Amazing, I've not bought one thing yet.  I got so sick of being on the computer yesterday.  Hehehe...I might have been a bit too impatient waiting for other sales to start, but ours is in full swing at all of our shops.  Our dollar deals at GingerScraps and at Design Bundles are totally kicking as well.  I just love getting goodies for just one dollar.

Hybrid Holiday Cards How To With The Cherry On Top and Aimee Harrison Designs

Welcome to The Cherry On Top's Hybrid Saturday.

After popular demand, Hybrid Saturday's are back and in full force.  We've had something for you this entire month.  It's the month with a lot of hub-bub and there are ample opportunities for hybrid projects whether it be cards, tags, gifts...doing things hybrid can save you time, money and a trip to the shops.

I've been focusing on cards, but the blog is full of all other kinds of hybrids.  I invite you to scroll through years of blogs and all of the scrappy goodness.

I needed to update my FB wear and I needed Christmas cards to send around this year.  If you know The Cherry then you know I'm all about the multiple birds with one stone thing.  So take a look how I turned my page using Aimee Harrison's Winter Woodlands collection and turned into an FB profile picture, wall photo, a card to send through the mail and more.

The profile picture should apparently be 320x320, but it's an annoying circle.  So if you use a square, you'll never get to see the entire thing.  Grrr...The wall photo should be  1200x628...

The profile pic was a no brainer.  I just used the page I already had and made zero adjustments.  I did try to cheat and just "crop" my page into the wall photo spot and change the pic, but that wasn't happening.  I duplicated my entire page, with all of the layers and just focused on the bottom of the page and those layers.  You can see that if you look closely at the above page.

I did slide down the handy photo spot and paper layers to neatly nestle between my scene.  I just took a few things away and moved some elements around a bit so they would all fit into the above dimensions.  See how my page and my wall photo is the same width, anyway?  Easy!

On to the cards.  I measured a standard European envelope and opened a blank document with those measurements which were, I believe 7x4 inches.  A pretty good size for a card and one that can easily be printed through your own printer.  Yes!

I could fit 2 on one piece of paper, even better yet.  Again, copy the document with the layers and just slide everything around to fit in the new space which really isn't all that much different.

To make things go even faster still, I set up all of these printables so I could just stick them on the reverse of the card and on the envelopes.

I used a really light box for my template, you can always choose to remove the lines before printing, but I wanted them so I could cut them properly with my paper cutter.

Don't forget to use good paper and or sticker paper to expedite the process and check those printer settings.  I used the same cluster over and over again, to save time.  So you're looking at the other side of the card, sending addresses for on the envelopes and my return address labels.

Some ink and a couple sheets of paper, maybe some sticker paper and you're set!  Custom goodies made quickly and inexpensively.

My terrible image.  My camera fell off of a very high shelf and broke.  I tried to use a cell phone, but I'm not familiar with phones that do not have buttons so I'm struggling.  I'll do my best to get better at the pics because these are just terrible, but at least you can see how easy it is to cut everything because they are all just simple squares which will save you even more time.

Free Printable Christmas Cards and Envelopes from The Cherry On Top

I'm a bit out of synch with today's blog due to a last minute idea I thought I'd share with you.  Saturday is my usual day for free hybrids, but I thought Saturday might be too late if you needed these cards before then.  I'll be not doing a Saturday blog, but Freebie Friday will still be live as will my newsletter only I've got a Christmas gift for recipients.  So, I'll be sending it out on Christmas day.

I could not find inexpensive Christmas cards, again this year.  So, I quickly made some myself.  They are for the kids to give their friends at school and anyone else I may have forgotten.  There is always someone I forget!  Hehehe...

These adorable little penguins fit sweetly on their 3x3 card and I've designed a custom envelope you can slip them into if you like.  You could just even hand out the square and not have a card, but more of a post card format if you so choose. 

Feel free to resize if you like and add any kind of glitter or any other elements if you find them too plain.  The template and cards are in a jpg format and all three cards fit on one page.  I kept it on the simple side to save on ink.  Hey, sometimes less is more, right?!

This is the template I'm also providing for you.  It snuggles nicely with the cards and I've left a touch of room in case you want to put something extra in there.

Beautiful Free Printable Christmas Card from Aimee Harrison Designs and The Cherry On Top

Yesterday, we offered a new freebie and gave some links to even more free stuff.  Today, I've got a really, really pretty Christmas card printable for you using Aimee Harrisons gorgeous, new collection, Of Sugar Plums.  Aimee's designed several new, fabulous Christmas collections and this one for me, is the cherry on top.  Hehehe...

The goodies/embellishments in this collection are just ga, ga gorgeous!  It could be my love for purple, but this super dark, passionate pinky purple is just mega fab.  I scrapped my dear mo-la. Please pardon the poor quality of this one.  I accidentally deleted my original, layered format and I had saved this one at 600, but boy do ya see a huge difference.  No more saving for WEB for me.

If you want to knock out some birds with the same stone, then duplicate your layered version and make some changes for a totally different look to fit your needs.  You can see the clustering is pretty much the same.  I added Aimee's beautiful word art and all I have to do is insert our new (hahaha) family, Christmas photo.  As you may know, my boys have Autism.  The youngest falls much lower on the spectrum and photo taking is anything, but easy.  We'll see how it goes.  Typically, the shots are more for a comedy or future family anecdote.  Hehehe...  Stay tuned!

 Of Sugar Plums

I've made a few subtle changes to my original layout for today's free card.  Notice them?  Good Lawd!  Do not aperitif before blogging.  Mental note!  Hehehe...

I always recommend printing on best quality, on good, sturdy paper as well.  If you've got semi-gloss or gloss, definitely use that.  The difference, in my experience is huge.  Also, let your project dry as long as possible before manipulating it.

I always give a tutorial for my hybrids and this one is just a few, very easy steps.

-print

-fold in half

-cut off extra sides

I had my hubs choose a cutter for me.  Never again!  Hehehe...  Look at the size of this thing!  It does cut marvellously, though.  I need a table just for it.

See how easy it is?  Fold and cut and your card is ready.  Of course, if you're savvy enough, you can enlarge or shrink the card to your preference.
