Dagi has new templates releasing this week.  I really, really like these.  They are super versatile and make scrapping fast.

Scr-App-Tastic Templates

Here is what I've done with the templates.  I've designed a new, fun profile picture for on Facebook as well as a new wall photo.  I couldn't wait to scrap up this fun picture.  That's me and my wish came true!!  Another glass...hehehe...

Here's another one of Dagi's new templates and another collection from Aimee Harrison.  That's my lovely in-laws on top of the Calmont mountain on the Mosel River in Germany, where we vacation.

 Scr-App-Tastic Templates

I've been asked to do videos for years and I'm finally figuring it all out thanks to my son.  Hehehe...I'll try to make videos weekly.  We'll see how it goes.

Check out this one on how to get layers on your word or title art in PSE.  I'm so thrilled I figured out how to layer.  It may not be the only way, but it's the way that worked for me and it totally lifts my titles and adds punch, contrast and even texture to what could be dull wording.

 Video for designing layered titles

Here's a look at the last two freebies from our newsletter.  It certainly is worth the space in your mailbox.  You'll stay caught up on our newest freebies and releases in the shop in a very abbreviated manner.  We'll link up the current and past blogs so you can keep up with all of this scrapbooking goodness.  Join the other savvy scrappy sisters and sign up for our newsletter right here, at the top of the blog, to the right or on our Facebook Page.

This is one of recent, free templates offered on the blog as well as a look at tomorrow's freebie for Hybrid Saturday.

I've designed some more Wordies.  I received several sheets similar to this in a collection I scrapped and blogged with Posh from Simple Stories and I love them.  I've got several blogs with my pages along with step by steps for traditional scrapbooking.  (I've linked up all three for you.)  I've got some in the shop, too.  These are in jpg format and the ones in the shop are in png format so you can customise the background AND the colour of your wording or font.  Yay! How cool is that?!  Print the size, colour and as many as you need.  There is also another pack of them in the shop to check out. Keep them with your traditional and or digital stash for future use. You'll love how much you use them.

Here's how you can use word bits traditionally.

This is no longer free. Make sure you sign up for our newsletter to stay up to date and so you don't miss any free stuff.

The background will be white when you print.  Make sure the size is how you want it.  If unadjusted it will print out on a 5x5 size.  I've left a lot of space for easy cutting.

Thank you so much for joining us at The Cherry.

 Summer Vacation
Tinci Template Freebie, Summer Vacation from MagsGraphics

These are very recent pictures of our summer vacation, here in Germany.  We had a lovely visit from my beautiful nieces, too.  We all ventured out into the gorgeous wilderness of Morsdorf and came to the Geierlay bridge.  Pretty spectacular, eh?

No, I'm not in these shots.  I stayed with the dog on the other side of the bridge!  Wink, wink...

This is still Summer Vacation from MagsGraphics and a free template from Throwing Some Scraps Around from our Love For Layout Template blog roll we do every other month.  Get ready for September's!

Look who is playing with Dagi's Temptations templates!  I paired this new one up with Heartstrings Scrap Art kit, Fly Me To The Moon.  I love this fabulous kit and what a fun template, too.  You can find Dagi's  templates in GingerScraps buffet as well.

 Kaleidoscope Templates

This is another template with Dagi's Kaleidoscope templates and this time I used LouCee Creation's fabulous kit, Tea With Alice.  I know!  I know!  I keep going back to this collection.  I just can't help it!  I love these colours and the tea theme.

 Kaleidoscope Templates

Mmm....more of these awesome vibrant colours from the buffet and this time with Aimee Harrison Designs, So Berry Good Collection.  The papers are just so fun.  Not typical Aimee, but exceptionally awesome!

The boys really, really love going to Opa's hof for all kinds of fresh berries.  The veggies are ignored, but the fruit is devoured!  Heheheh...Imagine?!

This is also a future template coming next week.

 So Berry Good

Ok!  OK!  Yet another kit from Kim Cameron Designs that I can't stop playing with.  I just love Kim's designs.  They are so perfect for my photos and they go well with the kinds of templates I like to work with, too.

Check out the next couple of pages with Belly Flops from Kim Cameron and my boys as the stars, as usual.

 Belly Flops from Kim Cameron

Above, I used a lovely template from Heartstrings Scrap Art.  I did some different stuff with those messy edges and added a lot of colourful layers to give my page lift.  What fun elements and super colours!

Belly Flops from Kim Cameron Designs
Lisa Rosa's Template, Belly Flops from Kim Cameron Designs

In the above layout I used an old template from Lisa Rosas Designs.  I love that star burst background, don't you?  The papers are really fun and bright and....take a look.  No flowers!

Isn't he just a doll with his super soaker?  He's an excellent candidate for the camera, unlike the little guy who never wants to pose for the lens.

 Belly flops from Kim Cameron
Future Template from TCOT, Belly Flops from Kim Cameron Designs

Above is more fun with Belly Flops and yet another look at some future templates.  Those were taken a while go, but they are still really fun and a sweet reminder of a great family vacation at Landal Parks.  This water resort was REALLY fun!  The kids had an absolute blast and never wanted to leave.

Also at GingerScraps, is more buffet goodies from LouCee Creations.  I couldn't wait to show off another page using my Up In The Air Templates that are now available in the shop for just 2,99.

More water fun from last year and I am totally loving these whimsical elements, aren't you?

LouCee is also hosting our freebie for this week.  Isn't that the sweetest?!  She's just a star!  I've designed a free  cluster with a word tag.  I'm sure you've got the perfect pic for this freebie and I hope you grab Lou's collection while it's only $1 a piece!

How To Design An Avatar Or Siggy

Welcome to another enlightening, scrappy tutorial on avatars and siggies.

An avatar or siggy is your personalised icon for the internet Whether it be a forum, game or even your signature for e-mail.

You can design your own siggy in many software programs such as Power Point, Photoshop, Corel, My Memories Suite...Grab a digital alpha or use your own fonts provided in your software to design your name or whatever wording you would like for your siggy.

Embellish with downloads from a digital scrap kit or from legal images you find on various sites like Clker.com, dafont.com, shutter stock, dreamstime, etc...I always work with digital scrap kits.  The quality is guaranteed with most of them and private use is never a problem.  You can also find plenty of free ones if you know where to look.  Like here, our Pinterest board has tons of free goodies and our Facebook Page, too.

If you feel you are not creative enough to pursue this endeavour, there are options for you.  You can purchase an avatar or even find free ones on sites like deitel.com or imvu.com.  Another way is to use templates specifically designed for siggies or avatars, like the ones pictured below.  They cost very little and you can use them over and over.

Click the image for the freebie!

You can even find free templates to use like the one pictured above.  How easy is that?!  If you don't know how to use a template, it's very easy.  It's just a matter of clipping in papers and placing embellishment or even more papers over the template.  You'll be ready in minutes!  If you want to find out more on how to use templates, click here.  We've got you covered!  Just type in, "how to use digital templates" and watch dozens of videos.  I learned in just a few, short minutes chatting with my scrappy friend over FB.  It's THAT easy!

Add some shadows.  Use your favourite, colours.  Include a picture of yourself, if you like.  Above is my niece and her siggy I made for her.

Her sister is a bit younger and I didn't use a photo for hers.

Here, I changed up my avatar for the holidays.

Since The Cherry On Top is all about the free stuff, we're providing some currently available, free digital scrap goodies that you could use to make your siggy. This image is hooked up to an entire kit full of gorgeous goodies.  Bella Gypsy is one of my all time favourite digital kit makers.  Head over to their FB Page and grab this baby for nut'n!

 Bg on FB

We've hooked up this one, too.

 free mini

Head over to our Pinterest board, Free Digi Scrap Stuff to find more.

In this last example, I wanted each round brad or button you see in between each letter to be linked up to our FB, Pinterest and blog, but my technical skills were not savvy enough.  Ugh!  I have found some pretty interesting tutorials, though. It IS possible! Type in a search, linking avatars and you'll find a few like this one. It seemed easy enough.

Avatars and siggies come in all different sizes from 50x50 to 150x150 and as big as 500x200 it totally depends on where you are using it and the requirements or limitations on those pages. I'd go smaller to be sure it fits most places requirements.

So that's the skinny on avatars or siggies.  I hope it helped you out.

Have a great time creating your own siggy and show us what you make if you like!
