Welcome to The Cherry On Top.
We've got another blog packed full of scrappy goodness for you. I'm super excited about this one because there is just so much to share with you and I really like the freebie and tutorials, too. I hope today finds you well. Take a deep breath, clear your mind and simply focus on all of our beautiful inspiration and then plan your next project.
First off, I have to explain the shadowing in our new templates. I'm going all kinds of experimental here. Hehehe...I watched a few tutorials on how to get this "shadow" look and I designed a generic one. You are totally welcome to use it anywhere you want at all, not just on your personal use, but anything.
If you don't like the shadowing, it's on a separate layer so you can very easily ditch it. Also, you can either use your opacity to make it lighter or you can duplicate the layer to make it darker or more intense. You could also use your own folded styles if you don't like mine.
For the large butterfly, I've left you with a huge square folded look shadow that you have to clip in. This way you can totally customize it exactly the way you want and you can use it with anything at all.
Keep scrolling and see that some of my team didn't even bother with the butterflies and you don't have to either.
The first page is mine and I've got another one further down in the blog. This page uses goodies from Heart Made Scrapbook, the new designer in town. So bright and fun! Totally Cherry! I just love playing with whimsical types of elements like the ones on this page. I doubled up the butterfly for more lift and got really messy with my background paper. I merged the photo spots and used just one photo. I saw several of my team did the same. I've got a video on how to successfully merge layers and clip in papers or photos if ya wanna check it out.
This templates was the obvious favorite for my team and I can't blame them at all. I love it too and yes, it's the other template I played with. Kaye is just a star designer. She's from Savi By Design and everything she touches turns to gold. You can check out her shop and be ready for the jaw dropping awesomeness.
If you like the looks of this kit, pictured above. I've got another page with it. Keep on scrolling...
I've got several pages with Aimee Harrison Designs new collection, Storm Chaser. Keep on scrolling to see more. It's full of drama and awesomeness!
Here's another great page with Storm Chaser.
Above is my page with Storm Chaser. I took Aimee's rain drops and put them all across my page to make it look like drops on a window. Tip: The colors in picture were clashing terribly with the colors of the collection so I turned it into a black. and white photo by taking the hue down to zero.
I've teamed up with Heart Made Scrapbook with this pack of templates. Check out Summer Soul from us and Ngoc's kit, Summer Solstice. They make a super collaboration!
The first page is mine, again. Tip: I used some bevel styles to give my arrows more lift.
Tip: It's always a super idea to flip your templates around for a completely different look. Then you can use them over and over, again.
Sew Pretty Templates from TCOT
Here's a page with last week's templates, Styled, in case you missed them. They were pretty awesome. I somehow botched up the GingerScraps Newsletter spot so I'm leaving them on sale for only $2.79, this week as well! It's JoCee Designs new to Sweet Shoppe collection, It's A Girl thing, Keep on reading to see, It's A Boy Thing, too!
Here's another page of mine with the new templates, Metamorphosis and JoCee's, It's A Girl Thing, again.
You know I just love my boy kits and pages. My feisty oldest was a real character in front of the camera. Now, that he is 15 that has changed a lot. I'm just thrilled that he still lets me take a few pictures here and there.
I designed this nifty word art for you thanks to Jo, I'm offering it for free, right here.
You can add it to a page, similar to mine or go hybrid! I turned it into a card in just a few easy steps. See how...
If you are needing a video, tutorial on how to make these large letters in layers and how you can add effects, papers, glitters, etc check out the video I just made.
Open a document in the size you need. Slide in your freebie. Position it to where ya want it. Add any other text you might want.
I changed my text for more contrast. If you follow the above video tutorial, you can make yours just like mine with a chunky outline, texture and even clip in a design paper for more interest. The tutorial isn't even 3 minutes so that shows you how easy it is to do.
I added a bit more scatter and ribbon from Jo's kit and voila. You can make a card like this in about 5 minutes.
Did you check out our $2 Tuesday at GingerScraps, this week? We had 2 packs up for grabs at this awesome price. This was super scrapper Roxanna's page using new to Sweet Shoppe goodies from Clever Monkey Graphics.
Don't miss out on the awesome deals on Tuesday. Here's next weeks $2 deals and it's a real bonus. You even get a mini kit with our Choose Joy templates. That's a whole lot of goodies for only $2!
