Welcome to The Cherry On Top.
Y'all! I get so darn gitty around the holidays. Don't you?! Decorating, baking, designing, shopping, wrapping presents, going to parties. It's the most wonderful time of the year.
Every year, our little family gets together on Christmas Eve. We take turns each year, between 3 of us to lighten the load. We have different ways of gift giving, usually along with games or drawing numbers or something like that, but lately you don't know to whom your gift is going to be given. So thinking outside of the stocking is in order. There's also a cap of 30 Euros.
Often, I choose for a big ole gift basket full of all kinds of stuff. Today, we're going to take a closer look into these gift baskets this way you can take some notes, do some shopping and get your baskets ready. Check out this previous blog for more gift basket ideas as well as a large wrapping paper bag tutorial.
The Cozy Gift Basket
Half of the family is ladies and the other gents. The above basket contains a mug, awesome smelling yet healthy candle, gourmet hot chocolate powder, 2 different chocolate blocks on a stick to make hot chocolate quickly and easily, color coordinating cozy home socks and kitchen towels. I bought these really cool tiny lights for like 2 Euros (and batteries). Line the basket with tissue paper or something prettier. Maybe some old fabric or a gorgeous scarf from the thrift store? Wrap in the the clear plastic, style up with ribbon and recycle some ornaments.

A Basket For A Sweety
This is the sweet lovers basket with mostly chocolate. It is Belgium after all. There are more of those chocolate on a stick, gourmet, locally made cookies, another oversized mug in which I stuck this adorable, real, tiny poinsettia and the lights. All of the cute ornaments are recycled. Looks like I recycled the red tissue paper too. Pretty wrinkly!
The Manly Basket
Here's a great basket for dudes. There's a variety of nuts, snacks, chips, crackers, expensive, locally made dips, crafted beer and if you've noticed, another beige coordinating towel and the lights.
Brighten Someone's Christmas
Ha! Don't they look just amazing in the trunk? What a super fun way to gift give. Definitely hit up this blog and our Pinterest boards for more inspiration.
Gee! I didn't take a pic of one of the baskets? It was fancy drinks basket with locally made gin, a fun ice cube tray, 2 super cool rocks glasses from the thrift store, a long metal stirring spoon also from the thrift store and a gourmet, locally brewed non alcoholic mocktail mix.
This blog has been around for so long, I've got dozens and dozens of posts dedicated to Christmas. Here's another one you can peruse. My apologies for so many broken links. I change my mind as often as Zsa Zsa Gabor changed husbands.
Here's a holiday full blog with an adorable freebie and links to more awesome blogs. This one is totally scrap-a-licious. If you are more into travel blogs, here's one with a wintery touch. I'll share one more epic entry with a free template and a lot of scrapbook inspiration.
I'll be back with more awesome in the form of travel entries, recipes, free holiday designs and perhaps, more gift ideas. Any suggestions? I haven't even started thinking about that yet. Join me?
Hit me up with a gift that you received and absolutely loved? (I got a kicking ukulele a few years ago.)
Thanks for hanging with The Cherry!
